Frederic Allen McIntire, 66, of Belle Plaine, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, Iowa from complications of Alzheimer's. His body was donated to medical science.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine, Iowa. Rev. David Crow and Rev. Jack Andrews officiated.

Frederic Allen McIntire was born December 8, 1938 in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Colonel John E. and Elvena (Hunt) McIntire. He married LaRue Ensor on July 2, 1961 in Attica, Iowa.

Fred enlisted in the Army in 1957 and was a graduate of the Radar School at Fort Mammoth, New Jersey. He served in the Army reserve for 6 years. In addition, Fred was a graduate of Weaver School of Real Estate and Auctioneer School. His memberships included the National Rifle Association (NRA), Rotary Club, and the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors Fellows (FICF). Fred was an active member of the Republican Party and the Methodist Church and held a Water Treatment Plant Operator Grade III Certification.

Fred joined his father in McIntire Real Estate in Fairfield, Iowa in 1967. He was active in many real estate organizations in the local area and state level. Fred was president of the Southeast Iowa Board of Realtors and he taught classes for pre-licensing for the Iowa Real Estate Commission in Des Moines for several years. Fred owned and operated McIntire Pump and Water in Thornburg, Iowa from 1977 - 1984. He later taught classes for pre-licensing for life insurance and was a State Sales Manager for Woodman of the World, National Mutual Benefit, Catholic Workman, Degree of Honor and Gleaner.

Fred is survived by his wife, LaRue, two daughters, Anita Young and her husband Tony of Cedar Rapids and Lori McIntire of Belle Plaine, IA and a son, Paul McIntire, also of Belle Plaine. Fred was grandfather to Joshua and Rachel Young of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Madison and Hailey McIntire of Belle Plaine, IA. Survivors include two sisters, Regina Rasche and her husband Chuck of Sun City, AZ and Martha Cathey and her husband Frank of McAllen, Texas.

Preceding Fred in death are his parents and two sons, Frederick and John.
