Gary Howard

Gary Howard, age 73 passed away, Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Four Square Gospel Church with Rev. Jim Cecil officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2015 prior to the service at the Four Square Gospel Church.

Gary was born January 20, 1942 to Cleve and Ruth (Louth) Howard in Fairfield, Iowa. He married Mona Sue Turner July 15, 1962. She passed away June 24, 2012.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He worked for over 40 years at Iowa Tire before he retired. He enjoyed camping and his dogs. When he and Mona Sue were younger they enjoyed roller skating.

Gary is survived by his two children, Zena Beth (Chuck) Leonard and Jeremy (Betty) Howard, 5 grandchildren: Kellsie Chalkey, Koltin Leonard, Kassie Howard, Sydney Howard and Turner Howard; one great granddaughter, Ella Frances Chalkey; two sisters, Sharon Parker and Sandra Jean Davis; two nephews and 4 nieces.

He proceeded in death by his wife, Mona Sue; his parents, Cleve and Ruth Howard; and one brother, Merlin Howard.
