Gary Lee Kreiss

Gary Lee Kreiss, age 77, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, August 30th, 2012 at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Mott officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in Green Glade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated.

Gary was born to Joe and Edith Ann (Winn) Kreiss on January 25, 1935 in Van Buren County, Iowa. Gary began a life-long profession in the grocery business before graduating from Keosauqua High School in 1952. On March 14, 1954, Gary married the love of his life, Vivian Westercamp in Farmington, Ia. To this partnership was born six children.

Gary and Vivian made their home in Fairfield for the past 48 years, moving from Fort Madison, Iowa. For many of those years they owned and operated a grocery store in Stockport, Iowa. Gary revelled in spending time with his immediate and vast extended family, as well as a multitude of friends, near and far. Hunting and fishing was a passion he shared with his children and grandchildren.

Gary will be greatly missed by his wife, children Paul of Germantown, Md., Brad (Diane) of Ainsworth, Ia., Dale (Cheryl) of Tama, Ia., Troy (Ann) of Edgington, Ill., Lori (Eric) of Lone Tree, Ia., and Kent (Kerry) of Burlington, Ia., along with grandchildren Zach (Anna), Colby (Katie), Jake, Trel, Trent, Brooke, Jessica, Jon (Terri), Jack, Jayla, Makaela, Tyas, great-grandchildren, Jack, Collin, Karsyn, and Hunter, his sisters, Lana (Charlie) Boughner, Linda (Wayne) Brill, JoAnn Wiley, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arlo, and nephew, Richard Kreiss.
