Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Brooks Cemetery, NW of Hedrick, IA. Rev. Danny Cary officiated.

Gene William Evans was born July 27, 1929 near rural Farson, Iowa. He was the son of Eddie and Mildred Cathleen Evans. He married Martha Jeanette Fair and she preceded him in death.

Gene graduated from Farson High School. He owned and operated his own farm for 30 years before his retirement. He lived in the Fairfield community since 1991.

He is survived by Wanda Bird of Fairfield and her children; Charles Bird and Judy Williams of Fairfield, IA and Joyce Frost of Middletown, RI. He also has three brothers; Junior and Everett Evans of Oskaloosa, IA and Ernest Evans of Agency, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha and one brother, Charles.
