George R. Schultz, age 78 of Fairfield, IA, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2009 at St. Joseph-Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, IA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2009 at church, with interment following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

George Ralph Schultz was born January 4, 1931 in Fairfield, IA to Louis and Minnie (Janka) Schultz. He graduated from Fairfield High School, and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Schultz was united in marriage with Shirley Gregory in Tipton, IA on February 12, 1955. He farmed all his life and was a parishioner of St. Joseph-Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley, of Fairfleld, and his children and their families: Marian (Leonard) Milender of Fairfield, IA, Michael (Susan) Schultz of Jacksonville, FL, Stephen (Janet) Schultz of Johnston, IA, Audrey (Joseph) Sheller of Cedar Rapids, IA, Christopher Schultz of St. Petersburg, FL, Douglas (Kris) Schultz of Fairfield, IA, Paula (David) Chicoine of Papillion, NE, and Michelle (Darren) Schultz-Schroud of Cedar Rapids, IA. Mr. Schultz was blessed with 20 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Nicole, and siblings: Raymond, Jess, Virginia, and Rita.
