Helen Marie Goehring, age 80, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007 at her home.

Funeral services were held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Baum officiating. Interment followed in Fell Cemetery in Libertyville, IA.

Memorials may be to the American Cancer Society, or Faith Baptist Church.

Helen Marie Goehring was born August 29, 1926 in Hunnewell, MO to Leonard and Mary (Baird) Laughlin. The family moved to Jefferson County and she grew up in Douds, IA, and graduated from Douds High School with the Class of 1945, and then attended beauty school.

Helen was united in marriage with D. Carrol Goehring on August 29, 1946 at Mt. Moriah Church in Douds. They are the parents of four children: Melvin, Robert, Judy, and Donald.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother and farm homemaker. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. In addition to spending time with her family, her hobbies included quilting and gardening.

Helen is survived by her husband of 60 years, and her children and their families: Melvin Goehring of Fairfield, Robert Goehring and wife Terry of Monticello, WI, Judy Shafer and husband Joe of Chariton, IA, and Don Goehring and wife Rhonda of Council Bluffs, IA.

Helen has 11 grandchildren: Sarah (Shawn) Mills, Joanna (Joey) Willemkens, Rachel (Nick) Springer, Jonathan Shafer, Tracy (Todd) Ellis, Theresa (Marty) Miller, Brett (Kim) Goehring, Doug Goehring, Toni (Eric) Roth, Sheena Goehring, and Josiah Goehring, and 6 great-grandchildren: Claire, Chase and Olivia Miller, and Hunter, Hayden, and Harrison Goehring.

Survivors include one brother, Howard Laughlin and wife Linda of Douds, IA.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Dorothy Tedrow and Evelyn Goehring.
