Henry Trevor Roland

Henry T. Roland, age 90, of Fairfield, IA, formerly of Washington, IA, passed away at his home Thursday, February 19, 2009.

Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield with Pastor James Wotherspoon officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment with military rites will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, IA on Saturday, the 28th at 1:00 PM.

Henry Trevor Roland was born January 18, 1919 in rural Fairfield, IA, to Trevor Sutton and Violet Chloe (Wireman) Roland. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Henry was united in marriage with Frances Augusta Bower on New Year's Day, 1946 at Grandma Mary Roland's home in rural Fairfield.

Henry was self-employed as a farmer, carpenter and locksmith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, and the Washington American Legion Post.

Henry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances, of Fairfield, and their daughters and their families: Judith Ann Gunnarson and husband Curtis of Pinehurst, NC, and Theresa Ann Reschly and husband Lonnie of Indianola, IA. Henry was blessed with four grandchildren: Michael Adam Gunnarson and wife Julie, James Andrew Gunnarson and wife Heather, Matthew Robert Reschley, and Jennifer Lynn Piffer and husband Corey, and three great grandchildren: Arin Lynn Gunnarson, Henry Walter Gunnarson, and Kylie Lynn Piffer, and step-greatgrandchild, Julia Glenn. Survivors include two brothers: James W. Roland, and Donald L. Roland; and sister Verda M. Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
