James "Jim" R. Barnett

James “Jim” R. Barnett, age 83, passed away May 27, 2014 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Memorial service will be Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Behner Funeral Home.

Jim was born June 19, 1930 to Ray and Linnet (Slutts) Barnett in Hillsboro, IA. He was married 32 years to Lucile (Standley) Barnett. She passed away and he later married Jacqueline “Jackie” A. Martin February 13, 1982 in Fairfield.

He lived in the community most of his life. Jim worked as a shipper and then Oven tender at Iowa Malleable Iron for 42 years. He belonged to the Jefferson County Saddle Club and helped coach Little League baseball for many years. He enjoyed horses and fishing. Jim loved his 2 dogs, Molly and Wishbone.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Barnett of Fairfield, IA; 2 children, John “Pam” Barnett of Birmingham, IA, Marcy (Rick) Bradway of Spooner, WI; 5 grandchildren, Nick Barnett Jr., Casey Barnett, Trevor Barnett, Breann Barnett, Linnet Bullen; 2 great granddaughters; 5 sisters, Beulah Shilling and Margaret Workman of Fairfield, IA, Leona Sanderson of Hillsboro, IA, Mary (Gordon) Faught of Douds, IA and Charlotte Wallerich of Danville, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Lucile Barnett; 2 children, Ricky Barnett and Jim Barnett Jr.; 5 siblings, Lex Barnett, Rex Barnett, Georgia Ellis, Marie Ellis and Robert Barnett.
