James (Jim) F. Bishop, Jr

Jim Bishop, 42, died Friday morning, February 11, 2005 in a three-vehicle auto accident on Hwy #163, in Mahaska County, Iowa.

Funeral Service was held 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, IA. Rev. Mike Metz and Rev. Dave Peterson officiated. An Elks Memorial Service preceded the funeral service. The casket was closed.

Honorary Casketbearers were all of Jim's many friends and Leo Domek and Frank Krieger. Active Casketbearers were: Joe Wright, Randy Melcher, Rodney Nelson, Kevin Curran, Chris Phillips, Harold Smith, Dean Haney, Tom Atwood, Jeff Proctor, Pat Nicol, Dave Pytleski, Rick Gable, Marty Domek, Mike Eggers, Bob Gifford, Scott Augustine and Bob Hecht.

Following the service, Jim was transported to Estherville, Iowa for services at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home at 1:30 PM, Saturday, February 19, 2005, with burial at the Eastside Cemetery in Estherville, IA.

Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home until 6 PM, Wednesday, February 16, 2005, or online.

The family requests NO FLOWERS with memorials to the Bishop children or the Elks Lodge #1192 in Fairfield, IA.

Jim Bishop was born to James F. and Karel Higgins Bishop on December 17, 1962 in Estherville, Iowa. He graduated from Estherville Community High School Class of 1981. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College to be an Auto Body Specialist in 1982.

Jim married Jeanna R. Baxter on August 13, 1983 in the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, James F. Bishop, III, Jordan and Jillian.

Jim and Jeanna have lived 17 years in the Libertyville community, with previous residence in Estherville. He was employed as an insurance adjuster for Allied/Nationwide Insurance Company of Des Moines, Iowa for 17 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield, IA and the B.P.O.E #1192, also in Fairfield, where he was a Past Exalted Ruler.

Survivors include his parents, his wife, Jeanna and their children.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerald and Opal Bishop & Clifford A. and Mary Pearl Higgins and two special friends, Maurice and Barbara Moffitt.
