James Roman Gevock

July 30, 1950 — February 24, 2013

James Roman Gevock age 62, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday February 24, 2013 at Parkview Care Center.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday March 1, 2013 at the Word of Life Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Fiske officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Lutheran Church.

Memorials can be made to Kids Against Hunger or Faith Comes By Hearing (bible sticks program).

James R. Gevock was born July 30, 1950 in Washington, to Roman Joseph and Evelyn Grace Mineart Gevock. He married Linda Erickson on May 15, 1975 in Jewell, Iowa.

James graduated from Fairfield High School class of 1968. He has lived the last 17 years in the Fairfield area. James has farmed the family farm since 1992. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 20 years in the Marine Corps. James served as Region 9 Director for Conservation Districts of Iowa and as a Commissioner for Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation Commission. He attended Word of Life Lutheran Church.

James is survived by his wife: Linda Gevock of Fairfield, siblings: Joe (Gail) Gevock of Swisher, Ia., Bill (Carole) Gevock of Brighton, Ia., John (Cathy) Gevock of Fairfield, Ia., Phil (Marcia) Gevock of Fairfield, Theresa Kasper of Westminster, Md., and Dave (Darla) Gevock of Manhattan, Ks., and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded by his parents, father-in-law: Bob Erickson and brother-in-law: Randy Kasper.
