James Pogemiller

James "Poge" Pogemiller, 72, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska died at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield, Iowa on December 22, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Sondheim Arts and Convention Center in Fairfield, Iowa on January 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Private burial of cremains will be held at a later date at Batavia City Cemetery.

Memorials to the family may be left at the Sondheim Arts and Convention Center or be mailed to the family at 18824 110th Rd, Birmingham, IA, 52535.

Poge was born June 11, 1941 in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Mark and Bernice Jones Pogemiller. He married Beverly Palm September 24, 1960. They later divorced after 22 years of marriage. Poge met and married Sharon Scull July 12, 1982, they shared 30 years together before she preceded him in death on December 27, 2012. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Parson's College. Poge worked at JC Penney, the Iowa Ammunition Plant, and Perry Clothing. He was a professional men's clothier and the proprietor of the Dad and Lad Shop, J Poge's Menswear, Poge's Rothchilds, and had recently retired from Lindley Clothing in Omaha. He was a member of Kiwanis, Lions, and Omaha Business Breakfast Clubs.

Poge was an avid golfer, a dog lover, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a magnetic personality that drew everyone to him. Poge always loved a good laugh and was always the life of the party.

Survivors include Jackie Greenfield (Wes) of Birmingham, IA; Doug Pogemiller (Mike Peterson) of Austin, TX; three step children, Rick (Rita) Scull of Scottsburg, IN; Denise Hughes (Connie) of Colorado Springs, CO; Michelle (Jerry) Peters of Omaha, NE; one brother, Tom (Carol) of O'Fallon, MO; six grandchildren; twenty three step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother Jerry (Carla), and a step-daughter Debbie (Gene) Mairet.
