Janet Lucille Farrier

Janet Farrier, age 80 passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton, Iowa.

Janet was born December 29, 1930 in Le Claire, Iowa to George and Lucille Speer Phillips. She married Marion "Junior" Farrier on April 1, 1950 in Fairfield, Iowa.

She was an elementary school teacher for 24 years for the Fairfield Community School District, volunteered at Bargain Box, was Secretary for the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Retired Teachers Organization and the Flexibles Breakfast Group. Her hobbies included reading, family gatherings, travel and garage sales.

Janet is survived by her husband: Junior Farrier; 3 children: John (Ninette) Farrier of Cedar Rapids; Sue (Rick) Tierney of West Des Moines and Julie (Matt) Farrier of Adel, 1 step-daughter: Linda (Dan) Krug of Coralville, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers: George (Joan) Phillips of Derby, Kansas and Frank (Phyllis) Phillips of Raymore, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son: Robert Farrier and 1 sister: Karen Brower.

Janet was a cherished wife and mother and will be dearly missed by her family.
