Janet Alice Martin

Janet Alice Martin age, 83 passed away Friday February 29, 2008 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, Iowa. According to family wishes her body has been cremated.

Family Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial of Cremains will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to First Lutheran Church or VFW Auxillary.

Janet Alice Martin was born February23, 1925 to William C. and Della Marie (Henning) Praefke in Milwaukee, WI. She was united in marriage with Don E. Martin, Sr. on November 26, 1942 in Milwaukee.

Janet has lived in the Fairfield community since 1948. She was a homemaker, a member of First Lutheran Church, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed dancing, collecting dolls, and spending time with family and friends.

Janet is survived by her husband, Don Martin, Sr. of Fairfield, IA, one son and daughter and their families: Donald E. (Jo Ann) Martin Jr. of Fairfield, IA and Mary Jean (Dale) Waugh of Stewartville, MN. Janet was blessed with five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sandra DeSmit and five brothers: Donald, Lawrence, Elmer, Herb, and Roy Praefke, and a sister, Ethel Wymer.
