Janet R. Wingate

Janet R. Wingate, 71, of Libertyville, IA, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, IA. Rev. Thomas Raphael-Nakos officiated. Burial was in Fell Cemetery.

The family requests memorials, in lieu of flowers, to the Windows of Faith Project for the new Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.

Janet R. Wingate was born March 17, 1935, the daughter of Edward and Marjorie (Louth) Bucher. She graduated from Libertyville High School with the Class of 1952, and spent 23 years as an Air Force wife and mother, before returning to Libertyville.

Janet married Don Wingate at the First Christian Church in Fairfield on October 31, 1952. They are the parents of three children: Donna, Robert and Tim.

Janet was employed as a school cook at Libertyville grade school for 10 years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville. Janet's memberships included UMW, and while in Germany, she was a Leader in the Girl Scouts. She was also a member of a steering committee of the annual (SCARWAF) Army Engineer Reunion.

Janet is survived by her husband, Don Wingate of Libertyville, and her children and their families: Donna and William Byers of Fairfax, VA, Robert and Kelley Wingate of Danville, IA and Tim Wingate and Kelly Welch-Wingate of Ames, IA. Janet was grandmother to six grandchildren: Jonathon Wingate, Laura Wingate, Amanda Wingate, Sarah Wingate, Chase Wingate and Arlyn Wingate.

Survivors include two brothers: Larry Bucher and his wife, Carol, of Willow Springs, MO and Jim Bucher of the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown, IA.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
