Jerry Plowman, born June 30, 1938 passed away Monday, September 23, 2013. Jerry lived near Douds, Iowa and farmed his entire life. He graduated from Douds High School in 1955. Jerry married Martha Gardner on April 3, 1960. In the last years, they have enjoyed several cruises with friends and have spent the last couple winters in Arizona.
In the past years, Jerry was active in Van Buren County Fair Board, Farm Bureau, member of Cattleman's Association and a former 4-H Leader. He was presently on the board of the Van Buren Community School Foundation and the Leando Cemetery Board.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Martha, his children: Richard (Lisa) Plowman of Douds, Susan (Troy) Love of Cedar Falls, Michelle (Darrin) Eilander of Ankeny; eight grandchildren: Jodee (Mitch) Webster, Cale (Katie) Plowman, Zachary, Anna, Blake, and Taya Love , and Cole and Kayla Eilander; 3 great grandchildren: Braac and Brynlee Webster and Logan Plowman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Dorothy (Shirk) Plowman.
Jerry has chosen to be an organ donor to help others in need.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Van Buren Community School Foundation or towards a livestock wash rack to be installed at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds to be used by the 4-H kids.

Graveside memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm, Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Leando Cemetery with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating.
