Joan Diane Denney, age 65, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Comfort officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Joan was born October 31, 1949 to Henry Frederick and Ruth Alegra (Neal) Plowman in Fairfield, IA. She was raised on the family farm south of Douds. She graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1968. She married Richard Bruce Denney and they later divorced.

Joan was a homemaker and worked for 10 years at Community Child Care Center. She liked playing bingo, watching TV, cats, cooking and drawing. Joan looked forward to spending time with family and grandchildren especially during the holidays. She was a longtime care giver of Janet Davis.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Jon) Miller of Libertyville, IA; 2 grandchildren, Anabelle and Isabella Miller of Libertyville, IA; two brothers, David (Janet) Plowman of Piedmont, MO and Henry “Lynn” (Barbara) Plowman of Olathe, KS; and two sisters, Marie Spilman of Milan, IL and Patricia (David) Hill of Mt. Pleasant, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Plowman; one sister, Dorothy Louise Bell; one brother, Frederick Shermon Plowman.
