John Haney age 82 of Libertyville, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Jefferson County Health Center.
John was born April 4, 1941, in Fairfield to Carroll and Margaret (Elder) Haney.
John graduated from Fairfield High School in 1960. After graduating from school, he married Judy Ann Campbell on December 7, 1961. This year they would have celebrated 62 years of marriage.
John was a hard worker. While farming and raising cattle on the Century Haney farm he worked 22 years at Dexter as a night watchman and 20 years for Coop driving a gas truck.
He was an avid wood worker and loved spending time with his grandkids teaching them how to build birdhouses. John was known for mounting the birdhouses on a pitch fork. Some of his other interests were restoring antique wagons, and going to actions and flea markets. John was a member of the Moose Lodge until it resolved.
John will be missed by his wife, Judy of Libertyville; two children, Dean (Treva) Haney and Vicky (Dan) Burch both of Libertyville; 3 grandchildren, Cory Haney, Justin Haney and Nick Parsons; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Margaret; two brothers, Alvin and Bruce Haney; one sister, Marilyn Stone; and nephew, Bobby Haney.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023, a Fell Cemetery with Pastor Danny Cary officiating.
A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the graveside service at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus or Jefferson County Hospital.
