Funeral services were held 10 AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home, with Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Interment followed in Glasgow Cemetery.

The family is establishing a memorial.

John Allen Steele was born April 15, 1964 in Fairfield, IA, the son of Herman D. and Margaret H. (Leazer) Steele. He was a lifelong resident of the Fairfield community, graduating from FHS in 1982. John continued his education, graduating from Indian Hills Community College in 1984.

John married Sandra Renee Hawkins on September 27, 1986. Their "children" are their cats, "Mister" and "Callie". John worked for Rockwell-Meritor for 18 years. He was a Service Engineer for Productivity Inc. for the past 4 1/2 years and a board member of Walton Golf Club. John was a NASCAR fan, loved boating, hunting and golfing.

John is survived by his wife, Sandra of Fairfield, his parents Herman and Margaret Steele, his brother, Donald, grandmother Helen Simmons of Fairfield, nephew Nathan Steele of Fairfield and niece Sandra Steele of Libertyville.

John was predeceased by his grandparents and step-grandfather.
