John Thomas Stephens

John Thomas Stephens, age 77 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Parkview Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. James Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery with Military Rites.

John was born on September 9, 1935 in Cave City, Kentucky to Richard and Nettie Riley Stephens. He married Margaret Benn on October 31, 1990.

He was in the United States Army for 18 years; serving in Vietnam, Korea, Alaska and Hawaii. He also worked on the Alaska Pipe Line. He attended the First Baptist Church, was a member of the Elks Lodge and was an avid trap shooter.

John is survived by his wife: Margaret Stephens of Fairfield, 4 children: John Thomas Stephens Jr., Richard (Diana) Stephens of Idaho, Cynthia Santoro of California and James (Diane) Stephens of Florida, 2 step children: Clester Graham and Jamison Graham, both of Iowa, 10 grandchildren: Richard Stephens, Reina Chandler, Tiffany Trujillo, Hanna Nieman, Emmalee Stephens, Clester Graham, Benjamin Graham, Presley Graham, Carissa Graham and Kayla Graham and 3 siblings: Wayne Kollmeyer of Michigan and Jerry Kollmeyer and Florence Taylor, both of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother: Richard Stephens.
