Katherine H. Snetselaar, age 89 of Fairfield, IA, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

Open visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 10, at Behner Funeral Home. Words of comfort will be offered by William Cummings, with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prairie City, IA.

Katherine H. Snetselaar was born near Monroe, IA on April 12, 1919, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie (Birkenholtz) Fleming. She was united in marriage with Henry Snetselaar in Colfax, IA on June 24, 1939. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1973.

Mrs. Snetselaar was a farm homemaker. She and her husband farmed in Jasper, Marion, and Lucas counties.

She is survived by her children and their families: Beverly Boecker and husband Marvin of Keosauqua, IA, Helen Bogenholm of Gilberts, IL, and Bonnie Waldron and husband William of Fairfield, IA. Mrs. Snetselaar was blessed with ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. Survivors include her sister, Arlene Van Baale of Newton, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Brian Bogenholm, and sister Viola Van Baale.
