Larry Keith Goehring

Larry Keith Goehring, age 69 passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at his home in Fairfield, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Libertyville United Methodist Church with Pastor Suzanne Swahn officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jefferson County Fair Board or Hospice Compassus. Cards and memorials can be sent to 1100 S. 5th Street Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Larry was born November 16, 1941 in Jefferson County near Libertyville, to Lewis "Keith" and Mabel "Evelyn" Laughlin Goehring. He married Nicole Daub on February 25, 1962 at the First Christian Church in Fairfield.

He served in the National Guard (224th) for 5 A½ years. He was a farmer and pure bred livestock producer, farming in Des Moines Township, member of the Jefferson County Fair Board for 12 years, received the Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Jefferson County Young Farmer in 1966. He was a previous Board Member of the Jefferson County Pork Producers, the Iowa Spotted Swine Association and the North East Missouri Swine Test Station. Larry was also an Iowa Spotted Swine Hall of Fame Member in 1988, he was awarded the Iowa State Farmer Degree, American Farmer Degree and was a former member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge #1192.

Larry is survived by his wife: Nicole, 1 son: Michael (Jeannette) Goehring of Keosauqua, 1 daughter: Kathy Goehring (Craig) of Batavia, 4 grandchildren: Dustin (Jessica) Goehring, Sara (Adam) Karnowski, Cody (Tori) Goehring and Brad Goehring, 3 great-grandchildren: Sawyer Goehring, Carver Goehring and Darbi Karnowski and 1 brother: Gary Goehring of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Larry Thomas Goehring and 1 granddaughter: Darby Brooke Gilbert.
