Leland L. Stanley, age 75 formally of Fairfield, passed away November 9, 2014 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Behner Funeral Home.

Per his wishes the body has been cremated.

Memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2014 at The First United Methodist Church with Pastor Todd Treese officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Memorials can be made to Jefferson County 4-H Foundation, First United Methodist Church of Fairfield or Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Des Moines, Iowa. Cards and memorials can be sent to: 1022 8th St. SE, Altoona, Iowa 50009.

Leland was born August 14, 1939 to Merle and Viola (Moxley) Stanley in Henry County, Iowa. He married Shirley Jean Teeter October 2, 1960 in Fairfield, Iowa at First United Methodist Church. This year Leland and Shirley celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Leland graduated from FHS with the clase of 1958. He served in the U.S Army from 1962 -1964. Leland worked for 40 years for U.S Postal Service as a rural carrier. He and Shirley were managers of the Sunset Roller Rink and had their own lawn care service called “Stanley's Custom Lawn and Garden Care.” For many years Leland was a 4-H leader, county fair judge and custodian at the AG Building during the Iowa State Fair. In 2007 Leland was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame. He was a Master Gardner. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Leland is survived by his wife, Shirley Stanley of Altoona, Iowa; two daughters, Reesa Stanley and Deena (John) Stanley- Dostart both of Altoona, Iowa; one grandchild, Benjamin Dostart; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Viola Stanley; 4 brothers, Charles Jr, Dale, Clifford and Marvin Stanley; and 1 sister, Refa McClellan.
