Leon Charles DeMeyer, age 83, formally of Birmingham passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Village House, John Knox Village in Lees Summit, MO.
Per his request the body has been cremated. There will not be any visitation.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 10:00 am at Behner Funeral Home with Father Nick Adam officiating. After the service there will be Military rites. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Leon was born October 19, 1931 to Jerome and Flavia Ann Marie (Boudonck) DeMeyer in Hartwick, IA. He married Ella Jean Yanda April 19, 1954 at St. Patrick’s in Tama, IA. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before she passed away January 20, 2002.
Leon served in the Army during the Korean War. He was an auto body man working at various businesses. Leon raced stock cars for many years and was a NASCAR enthusiast, country music, gardening (flowers), painting and playing pool.
He is survived by 6 children, Victoria (Steve) Ledger of Richland, IA, Debra (Denny) Wolfer of Albia, IA, Paula (Mike) Marr of Strafford, MO, Christopher (Susan) DeMeyer of Lees Summit, MO, James (Theresa) DeMeyer of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Matthew (Crystal) DeMeyer of Springfield, MO; 22 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Van Quenkelburg of Victor, IA and Janice (LeRoy) Bringman of Victor; one brother, Robert (Diane) DeMeyer of Hartwick; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Jean DeMeyer; his parents, Jerome and Flavia DeMeyer; grandparents; and two grandchildren, Michael and Christopher.
