Lewis V. 'Park' Edmund, age 93 of Fairfield, IA, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Fairfield with Pastor Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be at the New Sweden Lutheran Chapel Cemetery, north of Lockridge, IA.

Lewis V. 'Park' Edmund was born June 23, 1915 at Four Corners, Jefferson County, IA, the son of Amos D. and Minnie (O'Dean) Edmund. He grew up in Jefferson County and graduated from Lockridge, Iowa High School in 1933. In his early life, he worked as an auto mechanic and at H&A Factory in Fairfield. He married Mildred I. Thatcher June 23, 1942 in Kalona, IA. He then worked in the carpenter trade, building houses for approximately 25 years. He served on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors and later worked for the USHUD program prior to his retirement. Upon his retirement, he established his own saw filing business serving many customers. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairfield, the Fairfield Lions Club and The Keep Young Club.

Surviving are his spouse, Mildred I. Edmund, a son, Mark R. Edmund of Polk City, IA and his wife Kay Edmund; two granddaughters and one grandson: Sonya Rae Edmund Warner of Roland, IA, Alison Christine Edmund, and Aaron Bradley Edmund, both of Polk City. Survivors include one sister and one brother: Louise Egger of Moline, IL, and Richard A. Edmund of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rudolph Edmund and two sisters Bernice Cave and Elizabeth Peterson.
