Linda M. Bechtel

Linda Marie Bechtel, age 69 of Fairfield passed away March 23, 2014 at her home in Fairfield, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Pastor Sheila Smith officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Behner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bechtel was born on May 6, 1944 in Hanover, Pennsylvania to Charles Hansford and Grace Dickensheets Hansford. She married Glenn G. Bechtel Sr. on June 19, 1960 in Hanover, Pa.

Linda worked as a manager at Westbound, enjoyed collecting dolls and jewelry. Most important things to her was being a mother to many, spending time with family and friends.

Linda is survived by her husband: Glenn G. Bechtel Sr., 5 children: Bonnie J. (Michael) VanBuskirk of Packwood, Ia., Lisa M. (James) Downing of Fairfield, Ia., Glenn G. (Lea) Bechtel Jr. of Fairfield, Ia., Christopher A. (Shelley) Bechtel of Douds, Ia., Todd R. (Dawn) Bechtel of Fairfield, Ia., 15 grandchildren: Ryan Yoder, Nicole Yoder, Nicholas VanBuskirk, Chris VanBuskirk, Zachary Downing, Spencer Downing, Kalyn Bechtel, Brendon Bechtel, Haley Williams, Karley Williams, Samantha Greenfield, James Bechtel, Hunter Bechtel, Tara Helmick, Austin Helmick, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 brother: Larry Hansford of Bothell, Wa.

She was preceded in death by her father: Charles Hansford, Mother: Grace “Dickensheets” Hansford, and 4 siblings: Harry Hansford, Lila McDannell, Margaret Forry, and Norman Dickensheets.
