Linda Sue Vorhies

Linda Sue Vorhies, age 65, of Fairfield passed away Thursday, Aug 8, 2013 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am, Monday, Aug 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Wotherspoon officiating.

Per her wish the body has been cremated.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for "Be Not Afraid Books". Cards and memorials can be sent to 500 E. Fillmore Ave., Fairfield, Iowa.

Linda was born May 29, 1948 to Arthur "Fred" and Nevada (Shondel) Bradley in Fairfield, Iowa. April 16, 1967 she married Russell A. Vorhies.

Linda was a Day Care provider for 42 years. She had a passion for all kids. One of the things she loved most was reading to all her kids (her own children, grandchildren and day care children). Linda was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ladies Hospital Auxillary and past president of Fairfield's Women's Bowling Association. Under her leadership the Fairfield Men's and Women's Bowling Associations were merged to form the Fairfield United States Bowling Association (FUSBA). She was a lifelong resident of Fairfield.

Linda is survived by her husband: Russell Vorhies, 2 children: Saundra (Jeff) Yute of Indiana and Matthew (Melissa) Vorhies of Des Moines, 3 Grandchildren: Kelly, Sara and Jillian; 5 brothers: Tom Bradley, Mike (Iona) Bradley, Jack (Dee) Bradley, Jerry (Lea) Bradley and John (Rachel) Bradley; 1 sister: Ann Edwards and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers: Jimmy, Charles, Pete and 1 sister: Phyllis Kelton.
