Louise Cora McWhirter

Louise C. McWhirter, age 77 of Batavia, passed away December 6, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

There will be no services per her wishes and her body has been cremated.

Louise was born September 24, 1934 in Birmingham, Iowa to Dr. Robert and Lena Jeffrey Bogle Ward. She married John H. Baker and they later divorced. On May 16, 1980, she married Ray E. McWhirter.

She graduated from Batavia High School and had been a waitress, ran The Tanning Palace and was a clerk at Gimbel's Jewelry.

Louise is survived by four children: Robert (Roberta) Baker of Grand Junction, Colorado, Richard Baker of Ottumwa, Debra Baker Shaull of Sigourney and Randall (Clella) Baker of Richland, nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dr. and Mrs. Robert L. Ward, her husband: Ray E. McWhirter, great-grandson: Jordan Johnson and two sons: Micheal Eugene and John H. Baker Jr.
