Marcelle Marie Lucas

Marcelle Marie Lucas age 93 of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Parkview Care Center.

A time to Celebrate Marcelle’s Life will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Burial of cremains will be 2:00 pm at the Packwood Cemetery.

Marcelle was born August 18, 1923 to Ray and Venie (Simmons) Parcell. She married Howard M. Lucas January 1, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. Howard and Marcelle were married 3 months shy of 70 years when Howard passed away on October 16, 2011.

Marcelle and Howard were owners of Howdees Restaurant and Lake Darling Convenient Store. She enjoyed playing cards, country music, camping and fishing at Lake Darling. Marcelle was a good cook and enjoyed sharing her hickory nut cakes and cookies to whoever visited. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. In August Marcelle celebrated her 93rd birthday at Lake Darling surrounded by family and friends. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.

Marcelle is survived by her 4 children, Deanna Zillman of Fairfield, IA, Darlene Clark of Pleasantville, IA, Merrill (Sue) Lucas of Brighton, IA, and Cindi (Jeff) McFarland of West Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one brother, Keith (Peggy) Parcell of Lockridge, IA.

Marcelle was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Venie Parcell; her husband, Howard Lucas; two son-in-law’s, Don Zillman and Phil Clark; one grandson, Brian Best; two sisters, Esther and Lois; and two brothers, Karl and Glenn.
