Marie Isabelle Denney

Marie Denney, age 82 of Fairfield, IA, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

The rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM, Friday, August 8, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with a wake following with the family present.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 9, 2008 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield with Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Following the service, her body will be donated to science and and a private burial of cremains will be held at a later date for the family.

The family requests memorials be made in lieu of flowers to:
Alzheimer's Disease Research, Polishville Community Cemetery or Nelson's Nursing Home.

Marie Isabelle Denney was born July 20, 1926 in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Pete and Christine (Drish) Pohren. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School with the Class of 1944. Marie was united in marriage with Orville L. Denney in Fairfield on November 4, 1950. They were the parents of six children.

Marie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was employed as a dietary aide in various care facilities in the Fairfield area. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield. Her memberships include St. Mary's Ladies Auxiliary and she was a life-time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Marie is survived by her children and their families: John and Linda Denney of California, Mary Evans of Fairfield, IA, Paul Denney of Minnesota, Margaret and Phil Holm of Ottumwa, IA, and Michael and Laura Denney of Minnesota. Marie was blessed with 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville on May 5, 2005, a son, Kenneth Denney and three grandchildren.
