Marietta K. Canaday, age 92, of Fairfield, IA, died 1:15 PM, Friday, December 12, 2008 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning 9:30 AM, Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services with Rev. Jim McGaffey officiating, will be held at 11:00 AM, with interment in Iowaville Cemetery in Selma following the luncheon.

Marietta Kimmel Canaday was born June 24,1916 in Bonaparte, IA, the daughter of John and Louisa (Miner) Kimmel. She was united in marriage with Dale Ora Canaday in Cantril, IA on July 27, 1935.

Mrs. Canaday was an elementary school teacher for 20 years in the Van Buren & Cardinal School Districts. She attended First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving Mrs. Canaday are her children and their families: Kay Berg and husband Floyd of Brighton, IA, Della Carder and husband Jack of Cherokee Village, AR, Gary Canaday and wife Nancy of Marion, IA, and Dixie Kinseth and husband Jeff of Cedar Rapids, IA. Mrs. Canaday was blessed with eight grandchildren: Gail Utt, Scott Berg, Teresa McGee, Kerry Canaday, Stacy Kirk, Kevin Canaday, Steven Canaday, and Michael Icenbice, and five great-grandchidren. Survivors include one sister, Helen Leyden of Washington, IA.

Mrs. Canaday was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale on August 15, 1991, infant daughter Janice Marie, grandson Richard Fiedler, and her eight siblings: Henry, George, Paul, Fred, Lucy, Edith, Eleanor, and Ruth/
