Marjorie Orva Lewiston

          Marjorie Orva Lewiston, 96, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Addington Place in Fairfield.

          Marjorie was born February 12, 1927 in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Sanford and Gladys (Larson) Sydnes. She married Harley J. Lewiston, July 11, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 8, 2015.

          Marjorie was a teacher, working at South Hamilton Community Schools in Jewell, Iowa and retired in 1989. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, traveling, crafts including ceramics, cross stitch, and oil painting.

          Those left to honor her memory include her children, Connie Stewart of Fayetteville, Georgia, Susan Ellen (Andrew) Kindell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Dennis (Dena) Lewiston of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Dahl of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

          In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Paul Sydnes.

          Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 with a Memorial Service celebrating her life at 10:30 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa. Burial will be at the Randall Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, First Lutheran Church of Fairfield, or Elim Lutheran Church of Randall.
