Marvin J. McQuoid

Marvin J. McQuoid, age 83 of Keosauqua, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Van Buren County Good Samaritan Society in Keosauqua.

Marvin was born November 6, 1927 to Monte and Elsie Miller McQuoid at their rural Milton home. He married Betty Jean Gilchrist on December 24, 1955 in Centerville.

In his years before his marriage, Marvin traveled, working the wheat harvests and construction projects of clearing trees for the road beds and right-of-way projects in North and South Dakota and Alaska. He continued these talents throughout his life as he farmed, owned and operated a window washing service, tree removal service, cemetery stone reconstruction and home improvement businesses. He join the U.S. Army and served his country in Germany during the Korean War period.

Marvin is survived by his wife: Betty of Keosauqua, son Tim and wife Tammy, grandson Scott and granddaughter Cassie of Billings, Montana, son Curtis and wife Mary, grandson Justin and granddaughter Sydney of Las Vegas, Nevada, son Greg of Basrah, Iraq and granddaughter Ashely, husband John Connolly and great-granddaughter Gwenith of Pennsylvania, daughter Gina and husband Roger Robinson, grandson Eric of Huxley, Iowa, granddaughter Shaunna and husband Jeff Larson of Perry, Iowa and granddaughter Kylie of Chicago, Illinois, 2 sisters: Betty Dietzman of Burlington, Iowa and Marilynn Gillman and husband Jim of Alexandria, Virginia, 1 brother: David and wife Darlene of Keosauqua, Iowa, many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Beverly and husband Duane Williams.
