Mary “Theresa” Adam age 88 of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Sunny Brook Living Care Center, Fairfield, IA, surrounded by her family.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, January 19, 2015 beginning with a prayer service at 4:00 pm and open visitation will follow from 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield, IA.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fairfield, IA with Father Nick Adam and Father Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at the Richland Friends Cemetery, Richland, IA.

Theresa Adam was born November 27, 1926 to John and Marie (Hart) Strohman in Harper, IA. She married Omer Adam January 30, 1947 at St. Peter & Paul Church in Rural Clear Creek. Theresa and Omer celebrated 55 years of marriage before he passed away March 27, 2002.

Theresa was a dedicated house wife and worked side by side with her husband, Omer, building the family farm. She enjoyed decorating her home for the different seasons and babysitting her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure. Theresa had the ability to play the piano and organ naturally and enthusiastically entertained her family & friends. One of Theresa and Omer’s greatest joys was traveling the world together. Word searches, Wheel of Fortune, playing cards, reading books, mushroom hunting and garage sales were favorite activities of Theresa’s. Theresa was a member of Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, IA where she taught high school CCD classes and was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. In her later years she attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, IA.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Kim) Adam of Fairfield, IA, Jim (Mary) Adam of Fairfield, IA., Michael (Paula) Adam of Richland, IA, Leesa (Doug) Vogel of Hedrick, IA, Pat (Christine) Adam of Fairfield; one son-in-law, JD Kann of Fairfield, IA; 21 grandchildren, Jackie Sorenson, Brad Adam, Tyler Adam, Christi Kann Youngberg, Daniel Kann, Michelle Garvin, Matthew Adam, Jill Stuecker, Tori Sorensen, Brian Adam, Aaron Adam, Angela Adam, Nathan Roland, Jeremy Roland, Charissa Hickenbottom, Ryan Vogel, Andy Vogel, Austyn Vogel, Lynzee Adam, Abby Adam and Rachel Terrien; 16 great grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Sobaski of Iowa City, IA.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Adam; daughter, Becky Kann; grandson, Dustyn Adam; parents, John and Marie Strohman; two brothers, Richard and Eugene Strohman.
