Mary Joy Boysel

Mary Joy Boysel, age 86, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Creston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Creston, IA.

Funeral services were held 1:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Marvin Robeck officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

Mary Joy Boysel was born in Salina, IA on December 9, 1920 to Clarence and Nettie Fay (Schillerstrom) Hickenbottom. She married Lee Edward Johnston February 25, 1940, and he passed away May 9, 1952. On June 14, 1956, she was united in marriage with Carl Eugene Boysel and he also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Boysel was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield and lived most of her life in the Fairfield community until moving to Creston in 1997.

Surviving Mrs. Boysel are her children and their families: Judy Johnston Pringle of Creston, IA, Steven Johnston of Des Moines, IA, and step-daughter Karen Gridley and husband Jerry of Blue Grass, IA. Mrs Boysel has seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and seven step-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son, Kenneth Johnston, and three brothers: Kenneth, Perry, and Curt Hickenbottom.
