Mary Adella Carolan

Mary Adella Carolan, age 64, of Fairfield, died Thursday, March 15, 2007. In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated.

A memorial service was held at Behner Funeral Home at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home. Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiated.

The family requests memorials, in lieu of flowers, to be made to the Fairfield Public Library.

Mary Adella Carolan was born October 27, 1942 in Cresco, IA, the daughter of Layle A. And Roselyn (Hauber) Ryan. She has lived in Fairfield for the past 33 years. Mary was married to Jim Carolan on April 25, 1964 and they were later divorced. They are the parents of two daughters: Brenda and Chris.

Mary retired as a Legal Secretary for Morrissey Law Offices in Fairfield. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, and was a member of B.P.O.E. #1192 in Fairfield. She enjoyed reading to her granddaughters, and her hobbies included sewing, cooking and collecting dolls.

Mary is survived by her mother, Roselyn Ryan of Cedar Falls, IA, and her daughters and their families: Brenda Carolan and husband Jeremy of Portland, OR, and Chris Eddy and husband Joe of Fairfield, as well two granddaughters, Brittany and Erin Eddy. Survivors include two sisters and two brothers: Rosetta Sheda of Rochester, MN, Patricia Barta of Denver, CO, Steve Ryan of Cedar Rapids, and Earl Ryan of Cedar Falls, IA.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Layle Ryan, and one brother, Kevin Ryan.
