Mary Margaret Garretson

Mary Margaret Garretson, age 60 of Fairfield, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Per her wishes the body has been cremated.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairfield.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Mary was born on July 8, 1955 in Fairfield, IA to Raymond Jr and Alyce Burger Kessel. She married Warren Lynn Garretson on November 17, 1973.

Mary was a sales clerk at Gobbles Clothing Store. She enjoyed traveling and attending the New Sweden Quilters, Kiwanis, and Red Hat. Mary loved spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed attending her grandkids school events.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lynn Garretson; two children, Heather (Shawn) Nelson and Joe (Nicole) Garretson; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Nelson, Hollie Nelson, Jack Nelson, Tristen Garretson and Savannah Garretson; her mother, Alyce Kessel; 4 brothers, David (Charlotte) Kessel, Mike (Bonnie) Kessel, John (Kathy) Kessel, and Charles (Kathy) Kessel; two sisters, Ann (Jerry) Sirdoreus and Joan (Don) Sirdoreus; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Kessel; and one son, Ryan Garretson.
