Max Le Roy Wolf

August 1, 1938 — May 23, 2023

Max Le Roy Wolf passed away peacefully on May 23, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born on August 1,1938, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He lived his life in Packwood, What Cheer, Fremont, Fairfield and most recently a part of the Prestige Care Center in Fairfield, Iowa. Dad was born the son of Forest & Irene (Schute) Wolf. Soon after he was born the family moved to a farm north of Packwood, IA. Dad attended Packwood Community Schools. He worked odd jobs to put himself through college. In 1965 he received his BA in Education at Northeast Missouri State College (Truman Univ.) in Kirksville and in his later years completed his Masters at the University of Iowa. He enjoyed teaching, being a Guidance Counselor and later Principal of Schools at Keota and Tri- County. He married Maxine Countryman June 26,1976. Through this union he accepted as his own children: Diana Van Den Baard, Tony (Bobbie) McCarty and Renee (Bruce) Rebling. He always said the most important things in his life were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Dad’s hobbies were collecting tractors, toy tractors, model airplanes and guns.

Left behind are his children and their spouses, 8 grandchildren: Mike & Chris Carr, Chad (Emily) & MacGyver (Delana) McCarty, Caity (Jon) Boren, Aaron (Danielle) Rebling, Rachel (Dr. Howard) Aubert and Chase (Courtney) Feagins along with 24 great-grandchildren, Brother Lyle Wolf, nieces, and nephews.

His wife, parents and grandparents preceded him in death; along with his brother Gary Wolf, granddaughter Kara Carr, grandsons Andrew Helton and Corey Woemmel, sister-in-law, Judy (Lyle) Wolf & and his nephew Allen (Lyle) Wolf.

Visitation for family & friends will be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home.  Funeral service will start at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jim Eschenbrenner officiating.  Burial will follow at Prairie Center Cemetery, Packwood.  The service will be life streamed at Behner Funeral Home Crematory facebook page.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus of Washington, Iowa and mailed to Renee Rebling, 2847 170th Street, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
