Merle Guy Silvers

Merle Guy Silvers 75, of Fairfield, IA passed away August 6, 2007 at his home.

Memorial Services were held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Elmore officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial of cremains at a later date.

Merle Guy Silvers was born June 23, 1932 in rural Oskaloosa, IA, the son of Guy Merle and Ruby McNeese Silvers. He married Wanda Joan Swim November 3, 1951 in Eddyville,IA.

Merle was a long time resident of the Fairfield and Birmingham areas. He was a self-employed carpenter for 30 years. Merle enjoyed boat fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving Merle are his wife Wanda Silvers of Fairfield,IA, two daughters and their families: Connie (Richard) Richardson, and Mary (John) Pohren all of Lockridge,IA. Merle has five grandchildren: Anthony Long, Tina Sanderson,and Jason, Josh, Jared Pohren, as well as twelve great grandchildren: Addison Long, John, Brooke and Paul Sanderson,and Paityn, Sajon, Brayton, Parker, Riley, Aidan, Jordan and Abi Pohren. Survivors include three brothers and one sister: Richard Silvers of Oskaloosa,IA, Jerry Silvers of Atlanta, GA David Silvers of Ollie,IA. and Dixie Engle of Fairfield.

Merle was preceeded by his parents, one brother ,James and one sister, Charlene.
