Merribelle Josephine Warner

Merribelle J. Warner, age 89, former resident of Stockport, IA, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be held 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Renken and Rev. Harold Schutte will co-officiate. Interment will be in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport.

Merribelle Josephine Warner was born December 23, 1918 in Birmingham, IA, the daughter of Albert C. and Alta (Behner) Miller. She graduated from Birmingham High School in 1937, and from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

Merribelle was united in marriage with James Woodrow Warner in Ottumwa June 30, 1945. James passed away March 1, 1992. She was a school teacher in the Stockport, IA area in one-room houses and later at the Van Buren Junior High School in Stockport.

Merribelle was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for the choir. She organized the local Note-A-Bells, a Sweet Adeline group that performed for the community. In addition, she was a member of the UMW and LLG Clubs.

Surviving Merribelle is one sister, Lois Ruth Beswick of Kearney, MO, sister-in-law Kitty Schliffeke of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law Lyle Derry of Portland, OR, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: David Miller, Maurice Miller, and Dale Miller, and several brothers-and sisters-in-law.
