Michael Roger "Smitty" Smith

Michael Roger " Smitty' Smith, age 52 of Fairfield, passed away December 6, 2012 at his home.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Behner Funeral Home with Chaplain Don (Moose) Kirchner officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home.

Michael Roger "Smitty" Smith was born August 15, 1960 to Garrett and Myrna Brittain Smith in Des Moines, Iowa.

Michael "Smitty" enjoyed outdoor activities, going to the State Line Rallies in Keosauqua, spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Abate Dist. 14. He enjoyed riding motorcycles in his youth, hunting and debating rather than arguing. He was born in Des Moines and raised in Fairfield. He had worked for NAPA, in construction, a heavy machinery operator, was a liquor store owner, a skid steer operator for Harold Pohren and a friend to most everyone.

Michael " Smitty" is survived by 2 sons and families: Beau B. Smith (Nicole) Smith of Fairfield, Ia., Tyrel R. (Erika) Smith of Keosauqua, Ia, 1 grandchild: Phoenix Echo Smith, his mother: Myrna of Keokuk and siblings: Marcy (Randy) Peck of Lockridge, Michelle Smith of Stockport, and Matt Smith of Keokuk.

Michael was preceded in death by his father: Garrett (Gary) Smith.
