Michelle “Shelly” Lynn Emry, a cherished woman and mother known for her loving and nurturing personality, passed away suddenly February 8, 2025.
An open visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the family present from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life for Shelly will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Born December 14, 1971, Shelly was the daughter of James “Jim” Emry and Barbara (Rich) Emry Riepe. She lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others. Shelly unconditionally loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends, supporting them through every part of their lives.
Shelly grew up in Brighton and attended school in Washington, Iowa. She furthered her education at Indian Hills Community College and became a registered nurse. Shelly made it her mission to care for the elderly through her work at Parkview Nursing Home in Wayland, as well as traveling for nursing jobs across Iowa.
In her free time, she loved spending time with the people she loved. She enjoyed hosting gatherings and welcomed anyone who needed a place that felt like home. She spent as much time as she could with her son’s family, Cole, Jasmine, Celsius and Lucy. She loved to dance, playing pool and listen to music. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to Arizona to spend time with her daughter and son-in-law, Tyler and Heath, and their son, Lincoln.
She will be greatly missed by her family as well as the many patients she cared for; fellow nurses, and many friends across Washington, Brighton, Wayland and Fairfield. Our hearts are broken by this unexpected loss. Shelly was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
Those left to honor her memory include her mother, Barbara (Paul) Riepe; her children, Tyler (Heath) Granneman and Cole (Jasmine) Emry, grandchildren, Lincoln Granneman, Celsius Emry, and Luciana Brown. She is also survived by her brother and close friend, Craig Emry; and his two daughters, Grace (Michael) Emry and Alivia Emry.
She was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Brandy Emry.
