Mildred "Millie" Louise Bekel

Mildred “Millie” Louise Bekel age 84 of Jefferson County, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at All American Care in Washington, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Dexter officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.

Mildred “Millie” was born in Larharpe, IL September 6, 1930 to Jerry and Manie (Aldridge) Clark. She married Leonard Bekel June 1, 1950. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before Leonard passed away October 5, 2006.

They lived on a farm all of their life. Leonard and Millie enjoyed spending time in their big garden and enjoyed canning their produce. The best thing was crocheting. She was foster mother for several years.

Surviving are her three children, Teresa (David) Ballew of Fairfield, Rhonda (Ed) Wellborn of Englewood, CO and Kevin Bekel of Germanville, IA; 2 grandsons, Eric (Hayley) Ballew of Cedar Rapids, IA and Ian Wellborn of Englewood, CO. ; one granddaughter, Jenny Ballew of Birmingham, IA; 1 great grandson, Blake Ballew; 4 sister, Betty Clark and Geri Jones both of Richland, IA, Mable Goettsche of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Wilma Essary of Eldon, IA; one brother, Merle Clark of Fairfield, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents, Jerry and Manie Clark; and her husband, Leonard Charles Bekel.
