Mildred Eloise Ferguson

August 27, 1925 — August 29, 2015

Mildred Eloise Ferguson, age 90, of Keosauqua died August 29, 2015 at Keosauqua Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 3, 2015 at United Methodist Church in Keosauqua with Pastor Mary Hart officiating. Cremation will follow the service, with burial of cremains at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

Open visitation starts Wednesday, September 2, 2015, 9:00 am -4:00 pm with family not present. Visitation for family and friends will follow the service in the Church fellowship Hall.

Memorials can be made to United Methodist Church in Keosauqua, Keosauqua Health Care Center, Evergreen Cemetery or to Donor’s choice. Memorials and cards can be sent to: Marie Carter 3257 Ash Ave. Hillsboro, Iowa 52630.

Mildred was born August 27, 1925 in Fairfield, Iowa; she was the daughter of Glen I. Hisel and Florence G. Grimes. On September 26, 1943 she married Edwin Harold Ferguson in Memphis, MO. He died May 15, 2001.

She graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1942. She then went on to attend Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa.

Mrs. Ferguson retired in August of 1985 after 23 years as a program assistant with the Van Buren County ASCS. Prior to that she worked in different office settings including the Van Buren School district.

Mildred was a long time resident of Keosauqua and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She and Ed were involved with Boy Scouts. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and square dancing.

Survivors include her grandson, Derek; daughter in-law, Edith;granddaughter Tanja; 3 great-grandchildren, Alex, Haylie and Trevor; two sister in-laws, Delores and Janiece; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronald Dean Ferguson, and brothers Gerald Hisel and Steven Hisel.
