Mildred E. Hicks

Mildred Hicks, age 99 of Fairfield, IA passed away Monday, August 4, 2009 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Open visitation will be held beginning 12:00 noon, Wednesday, August 5, at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held 1:30PM, Thursday, August 6, at Abingdon Cemetery with Rev. Jack Jackson officiating.

Mildred E. Hicks was born July 22, 1910 in Abingdon, IA to Ransom and Edna (Ives) Whitmore. She graduated from high school and attended one year of college.She was united in marriage with Robert Hicks in New London, IA on March 30, 1935. He preceded her in death December 11, 1976.

Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and retired schoolteacher. She attended Faith Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hicks is survived by seven nephews and two nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother: Margaret Gantz, Marie Coughlin, Pauline Whitmore, Florence Faas, Kathryn Robison, Frances Whitmore, and Cephas Whitmore.
