Mona Mae Smith

Mona Mae Smith, 79 of Albia, formerly of Ollie, passed away Saturday January 6th, 2018 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Mona Mae, the daughter of Carl Bedker and Myrtle Johnson Daly was born in 1938 in North Platte, NE. Mona’s father passed in 1940. When her mother married Charles[Ed] Daly she gained 7 siblings. Mona attended High School in North Platte Nebraska. After making Iowa her home she attended College at Indian Hills in Ottumwa. She enjoyed painting and crafts and was always busy with a project. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister, Arlene[Don] Kelso, of Bridgeport, NE; step siblings, Phyllis Priest of North Platte, NE, Byron Daly of Stapleton, NE, Vera[Bill] Jividen of Stapleton, NE; her children, Linda [Ronald] Dearborn of Ollie, Calvin [Joyce] Dyer of Chariton; her step children, Ray Gwinn Jr. [Marie] of Des Moines, Larry Gwinn of Marshalltown, Sheila [Hoyt] Genty of Sigourney; her grandchildren, Shelly Miller and children Talya, Hailee, Jaden , Michael [Teresa] Dyer and children Hunter, Nicholas, Shana [Aaron] Schaefer and child August, Lori [Scott] Johnson and children Garrett, Ava, Eric Dyer and child Aubrey, Sheila Piper and child Savanna; her extended step family, Kristy[Ryan] Miller and children Kyle, Luke, Heather[Jeremey] Cheney and Child Jace, Jared[Kayla] Dearborn and children Declan, Emmerson, Bennett, Kaitlon Gentry, Jake Gentry. Tracie Jo Tyndall and child Jason, Kelly Gwinn, Chris Gwinn, Stephanie Gwinn and children Emilie, Raychel, Cara Gwinn and child Helena, Laura Gwinn and child Marcella, Teri Carmichael, Danielle Briggs.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Carl Bedker, Charles and Myrtle Daly; brothers Dale Bedker, Lavern Bedker; stepbrothers Emory Daly, Eldon Daly, Clinton Daly, and Dick Daly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13 at 3:30 pm at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
