Myron Everett Johnson

Myron E. Johnson, age 89, of Packwood, IA, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Following his wishes, his body will be cremated following visitation. The family will be present for visitation Friday, April 11, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. No funeral services are planned.

Myron Everett Johnson was born February 5, 1919 in Monmouth, IA to Carl and Angeline (Demoss) Johnson. He graduated from high school and was united in marriage with Mildred Mae Edwards in Maquoketa, IA on February 4, 1939.

Myron was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines. He was employed by the Fairfield Community School District for 27 years as a bus mechanic. Myron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends by square dancing, fishing, and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred, of Packwood, and his children and their families: Carl Johnson and wife Rosemary of Ostelic, NY, Anna M. Edwards of Limesprings, IA, Neda Swords and husband Frank of Valdosta, GA, Larry Johnson and wife Marsha of Packwood, IA, and Karen Lyons and husband Mike of Fairfield, IA. Myron was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents, son Myron E. Johnson, two brothers and two sisters: Carlyle Johnson, Norman Johnson, Dorothy Rursch, and Gladys Goody.
