Norman Channel

Norman L. Channel, 79 of Fairfield, Iowa passed away March 28, 2014 at ParkView Care Center in Fairfield Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Fairfield Friends Church, with Pastor Len Maselli officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa.

Mr. Channel was born on August 9, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Waldo Jackson and Effie “Jane” Channel. He married Muriel “Renaud” Channel on August 3, 1957.

Norman was a chaplain for the Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s department and also for the Iowa State Patrol. He served 34 years, as a pastor in Iowa, Arizona and Kentucky. He also enjoyed playing guitar, piano, organ and singing. Going garage saling was on the top of his to do list, collecting western and Native American memorabilia. Norman was a big fan of John Wayne.

Norman is survived by his wife: Muriel Channel, 2 children: Brian (Tasha) Channel of Durand, Illinois. Kim (Pamela) Butler-Channel of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. 4 grandchildren: Emily Channel, Deidre Channel, Delaney Butler-Channel and Emery Butler-Channel., 1 sister: Anna Jane Channel of Ottumwa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
