Opal M. Schlicher, age 84, of Farifield, passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 at home.
Visitation with the family will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM., Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield with Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Kidney Dialysis of Jefferson County, or the First Baptist Church of Fairfield. Cards and memorials may be sent c/o:

Opal Marie Schlicher was born February 3, 1924 in Clark County, Mo, near Athens. She was one of 16 children of Lon and Ruth (Vice) Gray. Opal was united in marriage with Frank J. Schlicher May 26, 1943. They were the parents of three sons. Frank passed away July 24, 1995.
Opal was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. In addition, she was also owner of Schlicher Plumbing and a distributor for Valley Supply of Ottumwa, IA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, and the Maxine Bates Circle. Baking cookies for her family, grandchildren and friends were her favorite enjoyment, as well as gardening.
Opal is survived by her children and their families: Dale Schlicher and wife Karen of Farmington, IA, David Schlicher and wife Janice of Fairfield, IA, and Daniel Schlicher and wife Carolyn of Brighton, IA. Opal was blessed with ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Survivors include a brother, George Gray of Donnellson, and sisters-in-law Genevive 'Topsy' Fraise, of Donnellson, Elsie Gray of Kahoka, MO and Juanita Gray of Farmington, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 14 brothers and sisters.
