Osborne Klug Holmes, age 92, passed away January 29, 2011 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Nate Nims officiating. Military Rites will be done at the funeral home and burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Iowa.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the donor's choice. Cards and memorials may be sent to Shirley McClurg 2846 Villa Court Bettendorf, Iowa 52722.
Osborne was born on December 7, 1918 to Sidney and Emma Klug Holmes in Charleston, Iowa. He married Mary Wade-Kessel in Canton, Missouri on May 5, 1966 and she passed away in December 2005.
He graduated Denmark High School, served in WWII as a medic with the U.S. Army and farmed in Van Buren County, near Birmingham.
Osborne is survived by 2 step children: Shirley (Frank) McClurg of Bettendorf, Iowa and Jerry (Betty) Kessel of Geneseo, Illinois, 7 step-grandchildren and their families, 4 siblings: Donald Holmes of Fairfield, Iowa, Ruth (Bud) Heston of Stockport, Iowa, Faye (Jack) Giberson of Lebanon, Illinois and Marion Bales of Clinton, Arkansas and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary, parents: Sidney and Emma Holmes, 4 siblings: Ruby Sharp, Shirley Avery, Francis Holmes and Stanley Holmes (in infancy).
