Philip Mesecher, age 89, of Montrose, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Montrose Health Care Center in Montrose, IA.
Funeral services were conducted at the Argyle Presbyterian Church in Argyle at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 29, 2006. Burial with military rites will follow in the Argyle Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests memorials, in lieu of flowers, to be made to the Montrose Health Care Center in Montrose, IA, the Argyle Fire Department or the Argyle Presbyterian Church in Argyle, IA.

Philip Mesecher was born March 6, 1917 in Dallas City, Illinois, the son of William and Elizabeth (Williams) Mesecher. He married Fern Lucille Burlingame on November 30, 1940 in Burlington, IA. They are the parents of six children: Larry, Barry, Steven, Stanley, Kathleen and Juliene.
Philip was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was employed as a plumber/pipe fitter with the retired Local 212 Plumbers/Pipefitters Union in Burlington, IA for 55 years. Philip's most memorable work experience was working on the Alaska Pipeline. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, running a bulldozer and his Massey tractor.
Philip is survived by his wife of 65 years, and their children and their families: Larry Mesecher of West Burlington, IA, Barry Mesecher of Poe, WVa, Steven Mesecher and wife Patti of Montrose, IA, Stanley Mesecher and wife Janet of Roseboro, NC, Kathleen Weber and husband Dean of Argyle, IA and Juliene Spiker and husband Alfred Spiker of Montrose, IA. Philip has 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one brother and two sisters: Wilber "Gene Mesecher and wife Margaret of West Burlington, IA, Margaret Hartsock of Scottsdale, AZ and Vera McKinney of Excelsior Springs, MO.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, J.C., and five brothers and two sisters: Ronald, Charles, Andy, Newt, Roy, Minnie and Josephine.
